The annual Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) prayer service for Missouri government leaders, scheduled for Jan. 5 at 9 a.m., has been moved to Jan. 6 at 8 a.m. MBC prayer service organizers felt the switch became necessary after it was learned that Gov. Jay Nixon had scheduled the annual Governor’s Prayer Breakfast for the same morning.
For the past decade the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast has been on the first Thursday morning of the new General Assembly’s legislative year, while the MBC service has always been on the first Wednesday of the new legislative year.
A spokesman for Nixon said the Jan. 5 day was the only day open for the governor to host his prayer breakfast. We will have more details in coming days and in the next edition of The Pathway. The MBC service will still be held at Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City.
