The Associated Press is reporting that the North Carolina Council of Churches has elected a homosexual man as its new president.
The council picked 55-year-old Stan Kimer, a lay leader in the Metropolitan Community Church, a denomination known for its radical support of the homosexual movement. The council’s executive director told AP this is the first time a southern state church council has been led by a homosexual.
The North Carolina Baptist Conventon is not a member of the North Carolina Council of Churches. The council supports every liberal agenda item and Kimer wants young people to get more involved in the council’s political activity. Of course it is organizations like this that often criticize conservatives for their political activity, citing the frequently mischaracterized separation of church and state argument.
